Nobody wants to have a chronic health problem. Unfortunately most of us will have two or more of these health problems during our lifetime.

These diseases, whether they be conditions such as obesity, heart problems, arthritis, diabetes, asthma, or chronic pain, can have a huge impact on an individual. However, people with these conditions can still learn a healthy way to live their life.

A healthy way to live with a chronic condition is to work at overcoming the physical and emotional problems caused by the disease. This is known as chronic condition self management. You can learn to do this by yourself or you can do this by working in partnership with your health professional.

Seeing a psychologist is a good way of talking through all of your issues associated with having a long term condition, and learning new tools and techniques to help manage your health. It may only take a few sessions to get you on track to living a healthy life, and it is always great to have someone supporting you through this process.
